Need some Christian opinions on part of Genesis- God's punishment for women?

In Genesis after Eve made Adam eat the apple and God banished them from the garden he told Eve that the punishment for what she had done would be ped down onto all women in the form of childbirth etc. If this was God's punishment then how do you think God feels about today's technology and medecine with epidurals and drugs during childbirth to make it less painful? Do you think its a sin to use them?
