Apple of the Auto industry - BMW or Mercedes?

Which company do you think is more like Apple in terms of its philosophy like attention to detail, no compromise on quality, innovative designs, social responsibility (like green products), captivating ad campaigns etc. I know both car makers are among the top of their league, just wanted to compare them to Apple, whose products I really admire (and it topped Fortune's list of most admired companies for two years in a row).
