I really like the name Abigale, but .....?

So my mother in Laws really name is Kathleen- Kathy for everyday use, however part of her family calls her Abby, its a story why has to do with kids pronouncing things wrong, but anyways I think it would be kinda weird to name our Baby Abby because of it? Just because we would kinda be naming our baby after her Nickname? What do you guys think?
