you are the winner because you have a the highest flush hand with your jack. it takes the best 5 cards to win, and you have them, because your jack of spades is higher than his 9 of spades. if neither of you had a spade in your hands, then it would be a split pot because you both would have flush hands with the flop. hope this helps!
