What is more 'green", makeup brushes made of animal hair, or synthetic bristles?

I'm trying my best to go as "green" as possible. I want to be environmentally friendly, animal friendly, economical ect. I am getting ready to purchase some new makeup brushes, and can't decide which way to go.
