According to Hinduism, if you live a bad life, you'll be reincarnated as something bad?

Like I get how like a person can live a crappy life and be reincarnated as a squirrel or whatever, but what about like a squirrel? What would a squirrel have to do to live a good life and what would it do to be reincarnated as something worse like a bee? Evil squirrel crimes??? Please let me know. Also, what about like wolves and stuff. Like they kill other animals so how would they ever be reincarnated as something better because they're muderers? Sorry, these are all the questions my World Religions teacher didn't have answers to.
