Why do I have runtime error message with Adobe reader?

My new PC purchases in February 07 came with Vista. Since then nothing much works smoothly. I keep on uninstalling reinstalling the Adobe reader, but still a runtime error comes down that freeses and terminates it within a couple of seconds I cannot read any pdf files. I cannot download an essential office suit and so on. HELP PLEASE!!!!
